The Sikkim Irrigation
Water Tax Act, 2002 and the Sikkim
Irrigation Water Tax Rules, 2007 were passed
by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly. Due to
some flaws in the rules, the Act could not
be enforced immediately , and it is being
vetted by the Law Department for requisite
amendments. The inclusion of various aspects
of Participatory Irrigation management (PIM)
in the State’s Water Tax Act is also being
initiated. Similarly, the formulation of
State Water Policy has also been initiated
during the year 2007-08. |
